William De Worde is the black sheep of the De Worde family, refusing his father's money and eeking out an existence writing a newsletter for rich patrons. When he meets some enterprising dwarves who own the Disc's first printing press, they quickly join forces to start the Ankh-Morpork Times, the Disc's first newspaper. Their first big scoop? The apparent crimes of Lord Vetinari, accused of embezzlement and murder. William suspects something is not quite right, but the more he investigates this story, the stranger—and more dangerous—it becomes.
