Captain Vimes is getting married to Lady Sybil Ramkin, the richest woman in Ankh-Morpork. Days before his wedding (and retirement), there is a mysterious theft from the Assassin's Guild, allowing Vimes to work one final case. This case is not as it seems, however. As the dead bodies start to pile up, Vimes, Carrot, Colon, and Nobby, along with some new diversity hires, must solve it before Ankh-Morpork is torn apart.
